Originally built circa 1830, it was a Greek revival styled farmhouse with wood beam ceilings, wide plank floors, antiques, fieldstone fireplace and lovely front porch. The Innkeepers final plans are to operate as a full service establishment in 2005. The Inn has been listed on the New York State Register of Historic Places and nominated to the National Register of Historic Places as a contributing property to the Glimmerglass Historic District. The Inn at Hickory Grove is located just 2 miles from Glimmerglass Opera and 6 miles from the heart of Cooperstown. Purchased as an abandoned property in 1999, the Inn has been under continuous renovations. The nightly rate includes a full country breakfast featuring homemade bread and muffins is served in the cozy dining room. Enjoy quiet time in the great room with the roaring fireplace and library nook filled with a vintage book collection. Perfect for many who are really praying for peace. As for the accommodations, the Inn features 6 charming guest rooms, each with private bath, color-cable TV and air conditioning. Afternoon tea is served daily, by the fireside or on the porch. Meander down to the lake where you can fish from our dock, swim the fresh waters, or sunbathe on the private beach. The area has abundant fishing and hunting opportunities. From New York City, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New England: NYS Thruway to Exit 25A (just west of Albany). Take I-88 west to Exit 24. Take I-88 west to Exit 24. Take Rt. 20 west and turn left onto Rt. 80 for approximately 5 miles. From Buffalo: NYS Thruway to Exit 30 (Herkimer). Take Rt. 28 south approximately 15 miles. Turn left onto Rt. 20 east. Stay on 20 east about 5 miles; make a right turn onto Rt. 80. From Pennsylvania: I-81 north to Binghamton; I-88 east to Exit 17. Take Rt. 28 north to Cooperstown. Stay on Chestnut St. till end; turn left onto Rt. 80 east for 6 miles.
